 CREATIVE CRITICAL REFLECTION

In this blog post I will be discussing and doing research on the creative critical reflection question I was given for my 2 minute opening project final. The question for the CCR is..

  • How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

For this question I will be making a video discussing the following... My project uses multiple conventions of the horror genre such as the idea of being trapped in a loop can make you feel helplessness and have no power or control over what is happening. The concept of having the sign that says "Do Not Go Any Further" adds a sense of tension and fear which can add to the feeling of her feeling isolated and unknown of her surroundings in there. This can create a sense of uncertainty and many questions to follow. In other words, I challenge conventions in this film by not revealing who the person that grabbed her arm is which leaves the audience and viewers with many questions and no answers to them. This can help develop the sense that there's more to come and that's just the beginning.

The second part to this question is how my project represents social groups or issues. I think my project represents social groups or issues because it represents the fear of no answers and the untold. This follows up to todays society with various different problems such as not following rules and disobeying them when a warning is given. In todays society many people break rules and consequences follow which is exactly what's happening in my opening. It also represents the fear and struggle of being helpless and the fact that nothing can be done which is a common thing now these days especially with women and the fear they experience with being helpless in situations.
